ATHENE is a leading research centre that accompanies and actively supports the digital transformation of society, the economy and public administration. The aim is to improve cyber security and the protection of privacy.

ATHENE is an institution of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, consisting of the Fraunhofer Institutes SIT and IGD and the cooperation with TU Darmstadt, Goethe University Frankfurt and Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. ATHENE is funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space(BMFTR) and the Hessian Ministry of Science, Art and Culture (HMWK) and is based in the science city of Darmstadt.
