Course outline

Computer science has become an integral part of our everyday lives. It plays a major role in all key technologies and is therefore a study programme with excellent career prospects. Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences offers two dual degree programmes in computer science. In addition to KITS, there is the alternative KoSI (standard version) in the Bachelor's programme. During the course outline, students are employed by an IT company.

Software is becoming increasingly complex. It not only has to work on PCs, but also on smartphones and tablets. The networking of end devices brings many advantages for the user, but also harbours risks. Hacker attacks jeopardise the security of private individuals, companies and states. In the cooperative study programme IT Security (KITS), students learn to develop security measures for IT applications - not only for company networks, data centres and the classic PC, but also for smartphones, tablets and the internet. The specialisation focuses on encryption, data security and IT forensics.

Further information

The only dual study programme for IT security in Germany at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences enables me to apply the expertise I have learned in lectures in a practical environment at an early stage. The practical stages in particular encourage me to implement my own project ideas directly in the company and then receive expert feedback from my colleagues."

Entry requirements

KITS does not restrict admission (no NC). The prerequisite for enrolment is a student contract with a partner company of the university. Admission requirements include the following school-leaving qualifications

  • general higher education entrance qualification
  • subject-specific higher education entrance qualification valid in Hesse
  • entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences valid in Hesse

KITS can be started in the winter and summer semesters. Applications must be sent directly to the partner company. If you are successful, a student contract will be concluded between you and the company. You will then be enrolled at the university. You can find the application form and further information at www.h-da.de/bewerbung. A selection of interested companies can be found at www.partner.infdl.de . A detailed description of the admission requirements can be found in the Special Provisions of the Examination Regulations (BBPO).

Study programme

A dual study programme supplements courses at the university with practical stages in the company and thus offers valuable insights into the professional world in addition to the academic university education. Compared to graduates of regular study programmes, dual study programme students acquire a higher level of practical skills and key qualifications. Dual Study Programmes also have excellent academic success and employment rates. The company remuneration during the study period enables financial independence and concentration on the course outline.

  • A detailed description of the programme content can be found in the module handbook.
  • You can find an overview of the individual modules in the course of study in the module diagram.
