ACSD researchers Prof. Krauß and Prof. Wiesmaier featured in the Darmstädter Echo

Applied Cyber Security Darmstadt

How can we protect digital systems against future quantum computers? This is the question explored in an article published by the Darmstädter Echo (edition of June 11, 2026), featuring HDA professors Christoph Krauß and Alexander Wiesmaier of the Applied Cyber Security Darmstadt (ACSD) research group. The two researchers explain why today's encryption methods could one day become vulnerable to powerful quantum computers. As part of the DFG-funded project H3SI, they are working together with partners on so-called post-quantum cryptography. A central focus is the so-called "crypto-agile" architecture, which allows the digital security core of long-lived systems such as cars or power grids to be updated later on, without having to replace entire devices.
