Alumni network KoSi e.V.
Between business and university
Staying in touch and learning for life - that is the basic idea behind the alumni network of the cooperative computer science degree programmes at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. Former students and professors have the opportunity to keep in touch with each other and the university through this network. In addition, they can use the university's services, such as the library or the faculty's continuing education programmes, under the motto "Lifelong learning", even after their course outline.
This network is a good basis for knowledge exchange between the university and industry as well as between the members themselves. It also provides opportunities for students: the alumni network offers the opportunity to get to know people who are relevant for internships, final theses or future career opportunities.
The core objective of the alumni network is to establish a long-term and part-time connection to the faculty - a goal from which everyone benefits.
About the alumni network
The alumni network supports graduates in planning and organising their graduation ceremony. In addition, the network is involved in the first semester introduction of computer science dual, student projects, information events organised by the faculty and the university as well as communication with partner companies. The alumni network also establishes and maintains contacts with schools.
The network also organises an annual alumni reunion. With a pleasant atmosphere and good food, this is an opportunity to cultivate old friendships and make new contacts.
Other events, such as ski holidays, kart races and excursions, are also organised at irregular intervals.

Free membership during the course outline and in the first year as a full member. 50 EUR per year from the second year as a full member. In addition, there is the possibility to support the association as a sponsoring member in any amount. Donation receipts can be requested from the treasurer.
The KoSI alumni network currently has over 60 members, including former students of the study programme and some professors from the Faculty of Computer Science. In addition, some employees of partner companies from the study programme have joined the network.
The alumni network communicates mainly via an e-mail distribution list and a wiki, in which all activities are planned and existing knowledge or experiences are made available. There is also a separate group on LinkedIn. The advantage of registering there is that the entire alumni network has an overview of the companies or organisations in which the network members are currently employed. This results in obvious advantages and opportunities.
After such a long time on the Board, it is perfectly understandable that we have had enough at some point and we would like to thank Stephan Werner, Thomas Weible and Markus Arnold once again for their many years of loyalty and hard work.
The new board currently consists of
- Monika Heintze, Chairman
- Nik Noltenius, Secretary
- Christian Hauf, Treasurer
Neither members nor the Executive Board receive money for their work. They work for the alumni network on a voluntary basis. The network supports individual projects of the Faculty of Computer Science, but only if they comply with the alumni network's statutes. The network's infrastructure is currently provided free of charge by donors. Special thanks go to Bernd Rücker and the Faculty of Computer Science.
The alumni network uses its funds for the following projects:
- Organising the annual alumni day
- Supporting graduates at their graduation ceremony
- Awarding prizes to outstanding graduates
- Supporting specific projects of the study programme
Thomas Weible Award
Prizes awarded by the alumni network
The alumni network presents the Thomas Weible Award (TWA) after nomination by fellow students or lecturers to honour special commitment to the student community and the dual study programme at the faculty of Computer Science at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences.
