Key areas, abbreviations and relationships

my.h-da uses various processes and displays, not all of which are self-explanatory. This section will first explain the most important areas, abbreviations and functions, along with how they relate to one another.

Sections:

  • Study Planner with Modulpan. The Study Planner with Modulpan can be found directly on the my.h-da homepage. This is where you register for courses and exams.
  • My exam registrations. In this section, you will find all your registrations for courses and exams. From here, you can quickly withdraw from or re-register for exams and courses.
  • Student Services. In this section, you will find certificates such as the certificate of enrolment and the forms for leave of absence or withdrawal.

Abbreviations:

  • ZU – Admitted. You have been allocated a place on the lecture or exam and may attend.
  • ZUV – Admitted subject to conditions. You have been allocated a place in an exam but do not yet meet the requirements. This status remains in place until the results of the PVL have been reported.
  • AN1 – High priority (registered). You have a course request with priority 1 for this course, but have not yet been admitted and therefore do not yet have a place.
  • AN2 – low priority (registered). You have a registration request with priority 2 or 3 for this course, but have not yet been admitted and therefore do not yet have a place.
  • AB1 – high priority (rejected). You had a course request with priority 1 for this event, but have not been allocated a place.
  • AB2 – low priority (rejected). You had a course request with priority 2 or 3 for this course, but did not receive a place.
  • ST – cancelled. You had a place on the course, but this was withdrawn by the lecturer. This status is also recorded for parallel groups from which you have withdrawn.

Modules, courses, parallel groups and group names:

  1. Modules and courses: A course outline consists of various modules, which can be divided into compulsory, core elective and 5-out-of-6 or core elective modules. The modules are further divided into various courses (lectures, practicals, tutorials and seminars) and examinations (pre-examination requirements and examination performance). For most of these elements, you must register yourself within the relevant deadlines. Please note that in most cases a module consists of several course components.
  2. Parallel groups and group names: Across the individual modules, parallel groups have been organised so that they do not overlap. You can identify such a timetable by the name of the parallel groups. These contain a “number+letter+number index”, which is made up of semester+cohort+timetable. For example, all courses marked with 2C3 do not overlap. If a designation has only two digits, it does not overlap with any other groups: 2C does not overlap with 2C1, 2C2, 2C3, etc.

You can find all further information in the following sections.

Guides for my.h-da

Enrolment is carried out via the “Study Planner with Module Overview”. Initially, only courses with limited places – such as work placements, seminars and tutorials – are enrolled in. You can enrol in lectures after allocation, provided they fit in with the courses for which you have been allocated a place.

To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to my.h-da.
  2. Open the “Study Planner” section on the home page.
  3. Configure the view using the filter settings on the right-hand side:
    1. Semester: latest semester (Winter 2026/27)
    2. Semester of study: “All”
    3. Courses: “With dates”
    4. Exams: ‘None’
  4. Select the module you wish to enrol on from the list of modules (alternatively, you can use your browser’s search function to search directly for items in the list). If the module is not on the first page, please navigate to the next page at the bottom.
  5. Expand the module by clicking on the arrow next to its name and, for the placement, seminar or tutorial, click on the magnifying glass at the end of the row to access the detailed view of the parallel groups.
  6. In this view, you can see the enrolment status in the basic details of the parallel groups. There is a figure for the maximum number of participants and one for the number of current enrolment requests. Click ‘Enrol’ for one of the groups.
  7. A dialogue box will open in which you can allocate the individual parallel groups with priority 1, 2 or 3.
    1. Priorities 2 and 3 can be assigned multiple times, with Priority 1 indicating the preferred date, Priority 2 the alternative, and Priority 3 the last possible alternative. In the core elective section, only Priorities 1 and 2 are available.
    2. In the ‘remaining places’ allocation, there are only a limited number of places available for practicals and tutorials, and late enrolment is not guaranteed.
  8. Next, make a note of the relevant lectures in your timetable. To do this, repeat steps 4 and 5 for the lectures in the modules and click on the ‘Add to timetable’ button for the relevant lecture.
  9. Next, check that your timetable has as few clashes as possible to improve your chances of being allocated a place.

You can find the instructions here as a document with relevant screenshots: Enrolment Guide

A good timetable and allocation

  • A good timetable is created when you stick to a single timetable as far as possible and keep clashes to a minimum.
  • This increases your chances of being allocated your preferred places.
  • The allocation process takes the following into account, in this order:
    1. Semester of study
    2. Group priority
    3. Lot number
  • Those who ensure their timetables are clear and consistent right from the booking stage will have a distinct advantage during allocation.

Tip for course enrolment

In the detailed view of the practical courses, you can also pre-book parallel groups for your timetable. This does not yet constitute a booking request, but allows you to view the course in your timetable. To create the best possible timetable, it is advisable to tentatively book the lectures and practicals you wish to attend and check your timetable for clashes. Once you are happy with your timetable, you can enter enrolment requests for the individual blocks you have provisionally booked directly via the timetable.

There are various ways to register for exams. The recommended method is via the Study Planner using the module plan. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to my.h-da.
  2. Select the ‘Study Planner’ tab on the home page. If you are enrolled on more than one study programme at the university, please also select the relevant study programme on the next page.
  3. Filter either by the semester in which you wish to sit the exam or by all semesters.
  4. For examinations, filter by “with dates” and click the button to expand all items. This will show you all examinations for a module and allow you to make use of the option to choose your examiner. As a general rule, however, it makes most sense to register with the lecturer whose course you attended.
  5. Search the list for the exam you wish to register for and click the relevant button. If there is only one examiner and one date, registration will take place immediately. If several examinations are on offer – usually with different examiners at the same time – a dialogue box will open where you must click ‘Register’ for the relevant slot.
  6. You can tell that your registration has been successful if the status shows ‘admitted’ or ‘admitted subject to conditions’ and the registration button now says ‘Cancel/Change registration’. You can find an overview of the exams you have registered for on the homepage under the ‘My exam registrations’ tab.

Please note the relevant deadlines for registering for and withdrawing from exams; if you encounter any problems with registration, please contact us (myhda.fbi@h-da.de), and for any other exam-related issues, please contact the examination office (pruefungsbuero.fbi@h-da.de).

⇒ A concise overview of the exam registration procedure can be found on the examination board’s page under “Useful Information” → “Concise Overview of Exam Registration”.

Certificate of Enrolment

You can find the Certificate of Enrolment in the “Student Services” section. Click on the “Notices / Certificates” tab at the bottom of the page. There you will find a PDF download of the Certificate of Enrolment.

Latest Academic Transcript

A latest academic record can be generated in the ‘Academic Records’ section. To do this, click on ‘Academic Record (ToR) [PDF]’ at the very bottom of the page. The document will download automatically when you click on it.
