Things to know
You can download a concise guide to exam registration here: Download (pdf).
If you are unable to attend an exam due to illness, you must submit appropriate evidence of this to the Examination Office of the Computer Science faculty. To do so, the application to withdraw from the exam on health grounds, together with a medical certificate*, must be received by the Examination Office no later than the seventh day following the missed exam date. Please feel free to send everything by email to pruefungsbuero.fbi@h-da.de.
* Certificates issued by non-registered healthcare professionals (e.g. alternative practitioners, physiotherapists, psychologists) are not accepted as medical certificates.
Students may submit an informal individual application at any time to request an exemption from the general provisions of the applicable study and examination regulations on the grounds of special personal circumstances.
The application must be worded in such a way that your request is clearly identifiable and should contain a valid and comprehensible justification. This is important as the Examination Board can only take into account the reasons stated in the application when deciding on it. If possible, please enclose relevant supporting documents (e.g. medical certificates) with the application and sign it personally. You can find a sample template for your application here.
Please send your application as a PDF by email to pruefungsbuero.fbi@h-da.de or by post to:

or hand in the application in person at the Examination Office of the Computer Science faculty.
If you have any questions regarding the application process in advance, please feel free to contact the staff at the Examination Office.
An application for reasonable accommodation must be accompanied by a medical certificate setting out the personal impairments to be accommodated and containing recommendations on how these can be appropriately accommodated. Examples of appropriate accommodation include, for instance, extended time for written examinations or a change in the examination format.
Compensation for disadvantages always applies to the examinations of a single semester. The relevant application must be submitted to the Examinations Office as early as possible, but no later than when registering for the examinations.
For reasons beyond one’s control, a request may be made to have an examination—which, under examination regulations, is compulsory—postponed until the following semester. Such a request should be made, for example, if a serious, prolonged illness, an accident, or the need to care for a close relative who has unexpectedly fallen ill is affecting one’s course outline. The grounds for the application must be substantiated by appropriate evidence.
