Databases

The Databases Group of the Faculty of Computer Science develops and coordinates the teaching programme and research activities in the field of databases and information systems.

The department's current research focuses on areas such as big data management and data science.

Courses

In addition to the compulsory Bachelor's course in Databases, the members of the department offer various (core elective) courses in the department's Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes as well as in the Data Science study programme run jointly with the MN department and other faculties:

(Core elective) courses

Master Computer Science / Master Data Science

Data Mining

Big Data Technologies

Big Data Analytics

Architecture of database systems

Current database technologies

Applied Data Warehousing

Bachelor's degree

Data Warehouse Technologies

Java Enterprise Database Application Development

Object-oriented and object-relational databases

Databases (at the Faculty of Economics)

Laboratories and infrastructure

Courses in the field of databases take place either in the database and business informatics laboratories D14/1.12 and D15/2.02 or as a notebook practical course. The faculty's Big Data Cluster is used for some courses.

Instructions for using the database client and server software can be found in the DB-Wiki of the faculty's Gitlab (log in with ist account).
