Practical stages

Graduates with professional experience are in demand - especially in Computer Science. Applied science thrives on interlocking with practice. This is why cooperative study programmes in Computer Science have many advantages.

In the dual study programme, almost half of the study time consists of practical experience in the respective partner company. As a result, students gain an enormous amount of practical experience and are simultaneously supervised by mentors from the companies and lecturers from Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences.

Practical projects

During the seven semesters of standard study time, students receive two practical projects from the partner companies - in the third and fifth semesters respectively. These cover the topics of "Working in a team" and "Project management". The students are supported in their projects by lecturers from the university and specialist supervisors from the companies.

In addition, seminars are held at the university to accompany the practical projects. One of these is scientific specialisation, where skills such as literature research, theoretical work, problem solving and discussion are strengthened. There is also a relatively new accompanying course: reflection. In this module, students are asked to take another critical look at their projects in terms of the opportunities and risks for society.

In addition to pure computer science, students also learn important key qualifications through the practical time: Presentation techniques, teamwork and project management are all part of the practical projects and help students to strengthen their non-specialist skills.

Practical stage compact

Through the seminar groups, the university and companies have the opportunity to exchange ideas on whether a more in-depth transfer of knowledge on specific topics could be helpful. This ensures that everyone involved is always up to date with developments in theory and practice.

As the seminar groups are made up of students and specialist supervisors from different companies, the employees of the partner companies also make new contacts and opportunities for joint projects arise.

Project registrations for practical stages are made in the Managi administration system. Students receive a personal request by e-mail each semester. If you have any problems with project registration, please contact Team Computer Science Dual by telephone on 06151/ 533 5664 or by e-mail at infdl.fbi@h-da.de.

Information on the individual practical projects, as well as details on the process and assessment can be found - for practical stage 1 at pp1.infdl.deand for the second practical stage at pp2.infdl.de and for the final practical stage at pp3.infdl.de.
